Landscape Archaeology

Landscape archaeology and cultural-heritage advisory combining field research, community knowledge and spatial analysis for responsible planning.

Understand cultural landscapes. Plan responsible development.

Cultural heritage is part of the landscape in which projects operate. Daira Sabz combines field research, community knowledge and spatial analysis to document heritage, understand development pressures and inform responsible planning. Our landscape archaeology service supports project teams seeking to consider cultural values alongside environmental, social and technical priorities.

How we can help

  • Heritage baselines and inventories: Document archaeological features, cultural landscapes and relevant community knowledge to establish a project-specific evidence base.
  • Spatial documentation: Use GIS, remote sensing, landscape mapping and photogrammetry, where appropriate, to locate and interpret heritage features.
  • Impact and risk assessment: Examine potential effects of development, land-use change and environmental pressures on cultural heritage.
  • Management and mitigation advice: Develop conservation recommendations, heritage-risk measures, monitoring proposals and inputs to ESIA and project management plans.
  • Participation and capacity development: Support participatory mapping, oral-history documentation and training for project teams and local stakeholders.

Our approach

We review available records, define the study area and identify information gaps before fieldwork. Surveys and community consultation are combined with spatial analysis to interpret the wider landscape. Findings distinguish confirmed evidence from uncertainty and inform practical recommendations. Permissions, access and any specialist investigation needs are addressed during assignment planning.

Outputs and value for your team

Outputs may include a georeferenced heritage inventory, maps, baseline documentation, an impact or risk assessment, and management and monitoring recommendations. Early consideration of heritage helps project teams identify sensitivities, compare options and make better-informed planning decisions.
