Past Projects
Daira Sabz has developed an innovative air filtration system aimed at reducing emissions from residential heating systems in Kabul, Afghanistan. This system is particularly beneficial for households that rely on coal for heating, as it effectively mitigates air pollution. Notably, the filtration system is seven times more cost-effective than existing commercial alternatives, making it an accessible solution for many residents.
In recognition of this achievement, Daira Sabz was awarded the third prize in the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD)’s Clean Air Prize 2023. This accolade highlights the company’s commitment to developing affordable and effective solutions to combat air pollution in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region.
The filtration system has been piloted in seven large apartment buildings in Kabul, directly benefiting over 780 residents by improving air quality and reducing health risks associated with coal combustion.
