Water Studies Conducted by Daira Sabz at the Baghdara Hydropower Project – Advancing Science for Sustainable Development

Daira Sabz Consulting and Engineering Group has successfully undertaken comprehensive Water Studies as part of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the Baghdara Hydropower Project, located across Parwan and Kapisa provinces.
The project, implemented by MCC-JCL Aynak Minerals Company, aims to supply clean energy for the Aynak Copper Mine, while surplus power will be distributed to surrounding communities — marking a significant milestone in Afghanistan’s renewable energy and infrastructure development.
As the contractual partner, Daira Sabz Consulting and Engineering Group leads the environmental and social studies to ensure compliance with national and international environmental standards, including the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, both recently certified by QRO.
Scientific Excellence in Water Quality Analysis
Water plays a vital role in ecological balance, public health, and community livelihood. Recognizing this, Daira Sabz has deployed a team of expert hydrologists and environmental engineers to conduct extensive water sampling and analysis within the project’s influence area.
Samples collected from various points of the Baghdara site are analyzed at Daira Sabz’s state-of-the-art Environmental and Geotechnical Laboratory in Kabul, where physical, chemical, and biological parameters are tested according to ANSA and WHO standards.
The results of these studies provide critical insights for decision-making, helping to ensure that the Baghdara Hydropower Project is implemented in a way that protects natural resources, minimizes risks, and strengthens local resilience.
