Climate Smart Agriculture in Afghanistan, Training of Trainers

The CEO of the company on behalf of the company signed an agreement to develop the training materials, analyse the pre and post-training knowledge of participants, write the final report and provide recommendations for the related future capacity-building program.

Specific objectives of the workshop were:

  • To enhance the participants’ knowledge of climate change science, its causes and impacts
  • To enhance the knowledge of climate changes in Afghanistan in the past and future scenarios
  • To build the knowledge of climate change impacts on agriculture and food security and nutrition in Afghanistan
  • To increase the capacity of the AFSeN staff and its stakeholders how to consider the climate change impacts and plan accordingly
  • To understand climate-smart agriculture and the differences between current and CSA strategies
  • To understand how to increase production and incomes sustainably, adapt to and build resilience to climate change, and mitigate greenhouse gases.
  • To share knowledge of and integrate the climate change impacts in planning and policies
  • To build gender-responsive policies and integrate gender roles in climate change adaptation and mitigation.
  • To develop recommendations to support climate-smart agriculture in Afghanistan.
  • To design interventions to be climate-smart for the future of the agriculture sector in Afghanistan
